Super excited to share two guests and their perspectives.
Rachel Scoville: project manager for about a year – Everybody Eats at the New Brunswick Food Security Action Network with both a culinary and nutrition background – and about to become a dietitian.
Jill van Horne network manager for our food southeast network to make food accessible to amplify good food initiatives in the region. (resources and links below)
Jill and Rachel are beautiful people. This is a common conversation of people in advocacy around food insecurity. Many areas have a food security Action network with the focus on doing as well as discussion. Listen in to hear a technical chat and a sharing of differing views – but ideas in a kind way – let’s continue to remember the art of conversation. (Podcast below)

This episode has some interesting nuances of eating. See how to navigate a normal unplanned conversation where ideas are respected, challenged, discussed and possibly shifted. What is new in this episode is more about the community aspect, policy, sharing as a community and networks – and even during the conversation speaking about biases.
The conversation is about the community experience and organization with a deep love for New Brunswick and appreciating the challenges people go through – including recognizing that if you are going through (or have had) food insecurity at this time – you are not alone others have too – and people do care and here are some organizations that are interested in supporting to improve – and consider if you have people in your life they may want to be there for you too.
Recognizing you/not everyone has a full cupboard if we have access to a cupboard, or pots, or a stove (or toaster oven). Part of the discussion is the learning and unlearning in biases if having not experienced food insecurity – and what we can do with what we have as well as what we can do in a smaller scale and larger options. Fun conversations about exploring and have fun in the kitchen.

I so appreciated that there were some excellent conversations about food and how wonderful it can be, the value of health and food and also being mindful of finding a healthy relationship of food as well within the context. It was an excellent and fun backyard conversation sharing experience and knowledge.
