Hello Tasters!

June 30th was the official launch day of OUR food adventure! What a great small gathering among friends and a few new people as well. Many were a part of my experience at St. Francis Xavier University while studying a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition – although there were a few people missing that are quite close to me.

I do want to acknowledge how good Newfoundland has been to the adventure and there will be posts about my experiences as well as the interviews with five gracious people.

Back to Nova Scotia – as I’ve already noted here,  I learned a lot about food during my time at St. Francis Xavier. It was where in fact, I would say I fell in love with food – learning about squash in winter time, looking up youtube videos about how to open it, never mind cook it – and laughing about how when people first interact with squash they want to throw it over a balcony to see if the skin breaks. In fact, I was so busy getting involved and learning from everyone about food I was reminded today I was the recipient of the community-engaged scholar award at StFX. I am still quite surprised – and still learning.

It seemed like a perfect beginning with the view of trans Canada highway from the window. Check out media coverage on the launch

So let’s get tasting!

Much Love

Irena

  1. All of Canada is close to the land –
Congrat on the launch at your alma mater, I remember the Antigonish Farmer’s Market when I last visited. Food is always good when fresh and local. Yummm on Canada Day.

  2. Great to hear you’re back on the east coast. Charlie and I are heading to PEI later this week. Where do you recommend we stop for a tasty bite?

    1. Hi Emily! Depends where you land in PEI! There a ton of good places! I’ll be posting a few teaser images of the Inn at Bay Fortune in Souris soon! Send me a message and we can chat a bit more! There are tons of great places! I stopped in New Glasgow to interview Jeff McCourt and thoroughly enjoyed learning all about his cheese in case you feel like stopping there as well to take a bit of PEI home with you 🙂
