I am super excited to invite those available to the official launch in the Nicholson tower lounge at 1pm, Friday June 30th at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS.

It means a lot to me as I have fond memories of learning about food and people from everyone around me: the town of 5000 people which doubles with the University, the farmers I worked with, the customers of the food box program, volunteers/members of community gardens, the kids and youth from nearby communities through X-Project, classmates, friends, coworkers from my multiple jobs, professors, StFX staff including the disability office, and participants of my service learning experiences. I learned a lot not just about general knowledge but also prioritization and life.

As I write this – I am about to board the plane for Halifax from Vancouver as I have done multiple times having grown up in BC’s lower mainland while going to school at StFX. It is a long flight and there have been a few hiccups today but it is all part of the experience (at least I am trying to convince myself).

Here is an old photo from my graduation with my parents.

I am sooo excited to begin.

I also want to acknowledge my wonderful morning with my mother and Penny Allport. I have known Penny for a long time and she often gives me a new perspective and reminds me to be my best self.

Thank you both for sharing with love a beautiful meal of strawberries picked this morning dipped in chocolate sauce – one of your family favourites at an Okanagan fair.

Spending this time is part of my commitment to take time for myself, just as much as I remind people to take care of themselves as a dietitian. Balance can be difficult even if it is important. I set intentions for the trip and tried to be in the best place so I can truly listen, accomplish and facilitate a space for people to share their experiences with food.

This is actually happening! I cant even begin to name everyone who has helped out over the years – and I am eternally grateful to those who have stepped up to the plate in the last little while (including today… )
Much love and Happy Tasting!

  1. How exciting Irena! Back to the Maritimes, a true coast to coast experience. So glad that I joined your blog. I can feel your excitement, anticipation and all that goes along with travelling. Happy Trails 🙂

    1. Me too! I’ve been doing a bit of setting up but crossing my fingers this week will all work out and I can finally start planning more than a few days in advance 🙂
