Hello Tasters!

Wow – what a beautiful day today in New Brunswick.

I’ve been travelling around New Brunswick quite a bit between yesterday and today and caught up on some logistics and organizing finally finishing with a meal back in Saint John. I will be heading to Quebec next week and as much as I have a few suggestions I have never been to Quebec city!

Today was inspiring. I had an AMAZING and exciting interview with Tim from Strawberry Hill Farm. I really appreciated his interest in evidence and scientific approach – and humour too! I know when the podcasts are released you will totally love to hear his opinion!

We spoke a lot about the importance of soil – and the science behind the soil for farming. Strawberry Hill Farm uses a system with livestock, cover crops and food crops to be successful with organic farming.

Diversity of crops is also very important to Tim and they have a local CSA – to sell direct from the farm. I really enjoyed hearing about Tim and his wife’s shared passion – to accomplish what has been told ‘can’t be done’. Clearly resilience is part of his nature.

What would you like to see on my mini travel updates?

And I am VERYYY excited to be going to PEI tomorrow for the Village Feast – a non profit children’s charity dinner – in Souris. I met some incredible chefs from across the country who completely welcomed me as I spoke about this very food adventure and I can’t wait to highlight what they say about food. Here is a picture from 2015 with Chef Michael Smith.

Much Love and Happy Tasting,

Irena
