Let’s Taste Canada is a tasty food adventure. We are travelling around to explore, celebrate, laugh, and learn about food.
Please make yourself at home as if you’ve just come over for dinner, or having a chat in the backyard – I’d love to introduce you to everyone.
Let’s be curious about – what is our relationship to food?
Today I have released two podcasts. Please take a look at the other posts and also the podcast launch page! I would also love to see some conversations and encourage comments!
The first is Chef Todd Perrin
Mini episode here – longer one below
Chef T. Perrin has a beautiful way of speaking to make you comfortable while speaking his mind on important food matters. He has intelligent and considerate thoughts on eating, food, food security, and policy.
Todd Perrin Moments/Quotes:
“my love for food started with eating it, you know, and then, and then turned into making it after a while.”
“eating something for the sake of the food is a reasonably new way of thinking here within the last generation or two … going to dinner at someone’s house was not about .. dinner, it was about meeting people and hanging with friends and family and you ate something hearty and good because you had to get up in the morning…”
“Food is a very intimate thing… we should take it seriously we should not take it for granted.”
Dr. Liesel Carlsson, Interim Director and Professor at Acadia and – Registered Dietitian
Her PhD was completed in Sweden at Blekinge Institute of Technology (Strategic Sustainable Development). See more about her education and courses at Acadia, Research and her most recent publication
At present, a lot of her work is on the https://internationaldietetics.org/sustainability/
Liesel Carlsson Moments/Quotes:
“how sustainability affects food access is big…”
“work of ecologists… and for me right now… how I find it helpful to think about food systems… is to think of them as adaptive and complex systems… and it can change over time… constellation of different actors and networks… there’s clusters… looking at food systems as… looking up at the stars and drawing lines in between them.”
“and these subclusters and humans are exactly like that too, social systems are exactly just like that and when you start to degrade the relationships between people… if you don’t attend to those relationships… the system actually starts to fall apart just like in the food system…” “pay attention to your relationships”

Thank you for being a part of my lifelong dream to be able to celebrate the release of the podcasts.
An initial curiosity turned into Let’s Taste Canada becoming it’s own living experience.
Many many hands have woven the fabric of its creation beyond my imagination. Be prepared for many diverse concepts explored in a lighthearted way to deepen your experience. As one of my dearest friends early on inspired – consider how do we nourish minds, bodies and souls?
And in you case you needed reminder – you matter, how you are nourished matters, and you have a unique set of gifts to share by being you.
May the conversation begin!
Happy Tasting!

Primum edere, deinde philosophari
Lovely! Yes it is so true – eating first allows a healthy philosophy discussion! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your speakers’ positivity on food and relationships – both considerations are much needed to recharge – in ourselves and within our turbo-charged world.
thank you! how kind – yes I hope it can be a reminder that if and what we have on our plate can create beautiful moments of kindness to nourish ourselves and each other.
