There is a lot to unpack with this episode! The goal here is to listen to Matthew’s thoughts.
Matthew was the executive director at The Yellow Door/La Porte Jaune. Listen in to find out his influences to create an appreciation for food – and descriptions! From a professional space – noticing that in this case – the purpose of appreciation for food was a way of creating community and connections.
Matthew is very well-spoken. This is evident in speaking about the organization and mixing in nuances of conversation. Much of the conversation spoke about – to listen specifically to the reactive city and how this shaped the direction. It was appreciated to hear about each program, its purpose, people involved and how it supports the broader community. In fact – how sharing stories and knowledge can be equally or more valuable- in exchange to connect across generations – as a successful program.
In this way – the focus seems to be a community space. This traditional model can be super beneficial as a means of care and consideration to treat people with kindness.

There are plenty of conversation bits related to this interview that may not fit for some – especially as at the time of the interview were in a time of significantly more peace. There has been plenty of conversations around respecting the financial aspects- especially in recent years. Should we speak with Matthew again may have shifted as well – so please consider this as a means of a conversation.
For example, when speaking to someone a person may not always be purchasing food, but accessing food. Such as – can food suggestions by health care professionals – be met? Therefore – food access – for some this may be through financial contribution, however we know that in some communities and cultures – various means can be respected if it works for everyone. Let’s eat. Happy Tasting
