Women International Day was recently! This podcast is a nice fit.
Kim speaks positively about her experience breaking barriers of being a woman and the limits of being able to go on a boat – tune in to hear all about how many boats she has!
As an aside, you will hear my shock, having grown up without any of these limits. I learned so much about all of the ways that Newfoundland looks at fish (aka cod) – echoing. There was also a little bit more about the importance of feeding someone else, traditions, culture, incorporating immigrant food as part of Canada food.

This podcast starts off a little bit differently with a different intro – let me know which you prefer! Plus, I’ve let the conversation be as much as I can as I am believing more and more that the art of a normal flowed conversation is important to hear – I’ve been enjoying listening to how different each person’s experience is so please so listen in! Looking forward to your comments!
If you are wanting to support women in business – and boats! Consider planning your next trip to Newfoundland&Labrador – and don’t forget to check out the restaurants nearby – The Atlantic has incredible food and great places to stay so be sure to look back at the early podcasts for restaurants as well. And don’t forget the wooden boat museum!
Sharing the stories of catching a fish, and sharing food is important. She speaks to the importance of fresh food including for people who cannot afford food, they may be able to go fishing – so looking beyond the income ways of accessing real food. She speaks to foodbanks not having fresh food and mostly processed – as an aside and my comment – there are some very unique and progressive foodbanks.

In fact – one thing I have previously advocated for and people who are making changes recognizing that processed food is more affordable at times, and therefore providing fresh food directly to people improves the health outcomes of people, and their lives which has a non-price to it, however from a price standpoint also decreases healthcare costs. Both arguments lead to the same recommendation.
Happy Tasting!
